Mustang Library Art Delivery: The Day Everything Went Wrong (and Right)

Delivering Art, Redd Foxx Style
The car was packed with art, sort of like the art version of Redd Foxx’s truck from Sanford and Son, or maybe the Beverly Hillbillies.
We were just missing Granny in her rocking chair.
We were on schedule and ready to rock and roll.
As I’ve said before, Matt has a schedule for just about everything we do.
With only a slight mishap, we made it.
“What mishap?” you ask? Well, the low tire pressure light came on.
The Tire Pressure Adventure on the way to hang art at the Mustang Library
No problem. We’ll just stop by the local OnCue and add air.
Upon arrival, Matt asks, “Where’s your tire pressure gauge?”
For those who know me, yes, I usually have those types of items in my car.
I start digging through the console, glove compartment, and every cubby hole.
No tire pressure gauge. Ummm… where could it be?
“Never mind,” Matt says. “The car will tell us when there’s enough pressure.”
He gets out to fill the tire.
Puzzled, I get out too, still looking—under the seats, in the door pockets, no luck.
Shrugging, I get back in the car. Matt finishes up, and off we go.
We reach the library right on schedule.
Have you guessed what happened yet?
The Case of the Missing Phone
My phone was sitting in my lap. When I got out of the car at OnCue, it fell without my noticing.
“My phone… it’s missing.”
I begin frantically looking for it and realize it must be in the OnCue parking lot.
Matt doesn’t say much, but I know he’s frustrated.
“I’m sorry we’re behind schedule,” I say.
“I’m not worried about the schedule,” he replies. “I’m worried about your phone.”
“It’s okay,” I repeat.
Matt looks at me, exasperated.
“Why do I care about your phone more than you do? It is probably missing or run over. I hope it is run over, then at least we know the information on it is safe.”
I shrug. “It’ll be alright.” Shaking his head, he drove on.
For those who know me, I say that even to Matt.
We head back, and miracle of miracles, it is lying there in the parking lot, waiting patiently to be reunited with its family.
A very relieved Matt scooped it up, and we were back on the road—only a half hour behind schedule.
Art Hanging Day at the Mustang Library
Once we got to the library, Matt began unloading the paintings while I laid them out.
Unbeknownst to me, he complained to the librarians that I had brought too many paintings and that he would just have to haul them all back out once I realized it.
Apparently, he had turned it into a challenge.
We worked quickly—after all, we had thirty minutes to make up.
As I finished one section, Matt straightened and leveled each piece.

We make a great team when we stay in our lanes.
In case you are wondering, I did NOT bring too many paintings.
Every painting I intended to hang was hung and leveled with care.
As we left the library, I let the librarians know that I accepted and met Matt's challenge.

And most importantly, the tire pressure gauge has been located and returned to its proper place in the car.
