The Art Is Up! Midwest City Library Exhibit – September 2025

The artwork is up! And Midwest City Library exhibit is officially live, and I’m not saying the paintings are impatient… but they were ready for their close-ups yesterday.

Flamingos, stingrays, octopuses, and a few other colorful friends are all in place, tags attached, descriptions written, and perfectly posed for your wandering eyes. The gallery is basically doing its best “look at me” routine, and who am I to argue?

Stop by, wander through, maybe even pick a favorite. Who knew a library could be this lively?

Behind the Scenes

The tags were printed, laminated, and double-checked, because nothing says “professional” like tiny rectangles announcing the names of your flamingos and stingrays. I wandered back and forth across the gallery, rearranging pieces, making sure every angle was just right, and occasionally talking to the paintings as if they could hear me (they didn’t answer back… this time).

Matt, usually my ever-helpful sidekick, couldn’t go with me on this one. He did help load the car with paintings, waved me off, and probably felt relieved he wasn’t stuck untangling hanging wires.

Thankfully, I had my trusty graphed-out exhibit plan tucked under my arm, so I was ready to rock and roll.

I carried the paintings in, unpacked them, and lined them up on the floor beneath their future spots. It’s a little like working a puzzle, except the pieces are heavy, fragile, and occasionally sassy.

While it took me a little longer on my own, I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly it all went. By the end, everything was in place, and the gallery was ready to greet visitors: flamingos poised, stingrays sleek, octopuses gracefully asserting their presence. Basically, the calm before the September storm of art lovers.

And yes, I’m fairly certain the octopus still thinks it knows better than me.

Want to see the exhibit in person? Stop by the gallery this September and meet the flamingos, stingrays, and yes… the bossy octopus. Share your favorite piece on social media and tag me. I love seeing which artwork steals the show!
