The Thirst Quencher
18 x 24 Acrylic

The water fountain is an iconic symbol of the zoo. This fountain quenched the thirst of many a people in its lifetime. In order to see the water fountain now, you must make a trek to the Zoozeum by the new Asian exhibit.

The Drinker
24 x 36 Acrylic

Being thirsty after walking around the zoo is something many people have felt. The elephant was taking a break and a long drink.

The Princess
12 x 18 Acrylic

Who doesn’t love a Red River Hog? Most of the time their noses are down. I took many pictures o catch one with the head up. I did! This little gal begged to be painted. In her head, I know she sings “I’m so pretty, oh so pretty!” She is smile inducing.

The Thinker
12 x 18 Acrylic

This youngster was caught in a moment of deep thought. I can only imagine what was running through his head as he chewed on the grass blades and gazed at the sky.

The Poser
12 x 24 Acrylic

As I worked on the paintings from the Oklahoma City Zoo, Realizing I did not have any birds, I went to the zoo and walked around looking for “that” perfect bird. This crane was posing for a painting. As soon as I saw the picture, I knew he was preening to be painted.

The Leader
16 x 20 Acrylic

This guy made me laugh out loud. He seems to be saying that he is tired of being on display and would rather turn his back on his adoring fans.

The Watcher
16 x 20 Acrylic

African Wild Dogs are probably my favorite exhibit at the zoo. I always trek back to see how they are doing. They are ever inquisitive and always in motion. The coloring is so interesting in the muted colors of tan and brown and the shocking patches of white.

Small Title
The Scamp
12 x 12 Acrylic

The otter is such a fun animal. They are always in motion. They seem like they would be so naughty. I have wanted to paint one for quite a while.

The Sleeper
24 x 36 Acrylic

Red Pandas who are so cute and make you want to cuddle them. This is the position I always seem them in when I am at the zoo. I know that they must be active some of the time, but I have only seen them be The Sleeper.

The Guarded Heart
16 x 20 Acrylic

This painting is definitely not my normal painting subject. However, as I walked down the path by the old Pachyderm building, I saw the flower bed with this Prickly Pear Cactus. I never realized how heart shaped the pads of the cactus were.

The Contemplator
22 x 28 Acrylic

A lazy day and playing in the water seems like a great way to spend the day. Wiley is a Grizzly Bear that was dipping up water to have sip of water while I was there. He can be seen in the Oklahoma Trails.
